Northern California Ukrainian Community Celebrates Ukraine’s Independence Day in San Francisco
In August 2017, the Ukrainian community of Northern California marked the 26th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence with a commemorative celebration in San Francisco.
The main event took place on August 27, 2017, and featured remarks by Consul Oleksandr Krotenko, who represented the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco. The celebration brought together members of the Ukrainian-American community, cultural organizations, and supporters of Ukraine’s independence.
The event was organized with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, the Ukrainian Heritage Club of Northern California, and the Ukrainian-American Coordination Council.
Participants honored Ukraine’s Independence Day with speeches, cultural presentations, and community activities highlighting Ukraine’s history, traditions, and continued development as an independent nation.
Shortly after the celebration, the California State Senate recognized Ukrainian Independence Day with an official resolution adopted on August 31, 2017. The resolution acknowledged the contributions of Ukrainian Americans in California and recognized the importance of Ukraine’s independence anniversary.
